Teaching the chicks to eat and drink water were bigger tasks than I originally imagined as my pair of hatchlings were of distrustful and suspicious nature. Dipping their beaks in the dishes were not nearly enough to convince them. They did not want anything to do with food and water until I put my own mouth into their food and water dishes. There is no doubt each chick, just like each humanoid, is an individual, although they share some traits of their species. For me, such awareness is emotional therefore deeper and ever lasting compared to “knowledge”, where facts are not necessarily assimilated internally.
